Devices
Add a device to your ForestVPN account, name it so you can tell them apart, and manage the ones you use.
One ForestVPN account protects every device you own. This guide covers adding a device, naming it, and removing one you no longer use.
Add a device
Install the ForestVPN app on the new device and sign in with your account. The app registers the device automatically the first time it connects — there are no files to copy by hand.
Each device gets its own secure key. The private key never leaves the device; only the matching public key is shared, so nothing sensitive is exposed.
Name your devices
A clear name makes your device list easy to scan. From the dashboard, open Devices and rename each one — for example Work laptop or Pixel 8.
Manage active devices
The Devices page lists every device on your account, when it last connected, and its current status. From here you can:
- Rename a device to keep the list tidy.
- Remove a device you've sold or no longer use — its access is revoked right away and it can no longer connect.
Device limits
Your plan sets how many devices can be active at once. If you reach the limit, remove an old device or move to a plan with a higher limit from Billing & plans.
Use a device as an exit
You can route your traffic through one of your own devices — handy for reaching your home network's internet connection while you're away. Turning on your own device as an exit is included on every plan; shared exit locations run by ForestVPN are part of Premium.
